NEW BOYS 2007

Claude Davies - Davis arrived at Bramall Lane twelve months ago from Preston North End, at the time we didn't know what to make of him but felt that this was a decent signing.

Due to injuries he didn't start the 2006/07 season until over a month; but made an immediate impact and won over the fans with ease. His defending at times is somewhat unique; jumping
up for headers like a big daft sea lion but he never fails to win the ball.

He is a a great loss to Sheffield United and hope that he will be a great servant at Pride Park,
its just a shame he left after just one season.

Claude Davis was our player of the year in 2005/6 at the heart at the back four. He took time
to adjust to the English game - almost two seasons before really fitting in. He is tall and strong at the back as well as a good header of the ball. He is a very relaxed player but sometimes too casual and can be caught out on the ball and this may show at the top level against
the best strikers.

Andy Griffin - Andy Griffin is a no-nonsense 'take-no-prisoners' style right back. He was steady rather
than spectacular while at Fratton and has been on the margins of the squad since his mistake in not
picking someone up cost us the losing goal at Villa back in March 2006. In terms of ability he comes somewhere between bottom third Prem and top third Championship.

In a good side he would look reasonable, in a weak one, he would probably look average at best. He is a committed born-again Christian, in the mould of Darren Moore and Linvoy Primus. I presume Derby's ambition is merely to finish 17th at best? If so, you could do worse than have Griff on your side.

David 'Ned' Kelly -  As Derby fans will know,  Kelly has been on gardening leave for the last year
after a spat with the board. He is a stern man and a good number two but, as we have seen over the
past 12 months, can throw his dummy out of the pram big time when he wants to. When not offered the top job at Deepdale he was asked to stay on as number two but refused unless he got his own way so hence his inactivity over the last year. A good motivator when he wants to be!
