DEPARTURE LOUNGE SUMMER 2008 - GATE 1

If you believe everything you read, it seems our entire first team squad is for sale.
We stand by Gate 1 and wave goodbye to the first batch of the departed.

Rob Earnshaw -  The whole Earnie episode will go down as one of the most mysterious in Rams history. Our record signing and proven goalscorer yet ignored by both managers. No one could say he was rubbish- we didn’t see enough of him. Most Rams fans were sympathetic to Earnie’s plight but we now wish him all the worst with his new club.

Best Moment: His only moment - his goal and celebration against Arsenal.

Worst Moment: His open goal miss at Boro just beaten by Signing for Forest.

Michael Johnson- You could never accuse Jonno of a lack of passion or commitment (he broke a bone most games before playing the next) but he was never the worlds most gifted footballer. Great to have when we were up against it but often one step away from unforced error when we weren’t. Having said that we had far more than our £20k’s worth and wish him well.

Best Moment: His first season under Burley that helped turn us from relegation to promotion candidates. For Jonno himself, lifting the Play off trophy with Oakley.

Worst Moment: When Phil Brown announced he planned to build his defence around Jonno and gave him a lengthy new contract.

Lee Holmes - Lee Holmes represented and captained England at Youth level when Tom Huddlestone was barely getting a game. However, despite the Rams crying out for a proper left winger, Holmes never took the chance when given a run in the side. After all the initial hope, it was sad to see him slip away.

Best Moment: Entering the record books as the youngest player ever in the FA Cup. Being sponsored by the Baseball Bat Fanzine (i.e us) the following season.

Worst Moment: When Billy Davies signed 19 year old left winger Ryan Smith, the writing was on the wall for our own teenage winger.

As Earnie's number is again held up by the bench.
Rob points out that the game hasn't yet started.

Two titans of British football lock horns.

Kenny Miller -
A player who seemed to split opinion. Obviously had some talent and, to me, tried hard in most games with little or no support. However he came across as a bit arrogant and gave off the impression that he thought he was too good for us.  His fires clearly went out around March time and when he said he'd walk to Glasgow to sign for Rangers, there was no shortage of Rams fans offering to drive him there!

Best Moment:
His screamer against Newcastle in 'the' win.

Worst Moment: Spent April and May getting caned by Rams fans and Rangers fans, neither of which wanted him at their club!

Marc Edworthy - When Eddy signed on a 3 year deal he was fully expected to follow the Barton and Kenna route: one good season; one bad; pay him up for the third. Yet in his own quiet way, Eddy was one of the Rams best signing’s of recent years. Brilliant in the promotion season and unlike many others, didn’t disgrace himself in the Prem.

Best Moment: Being Mr. Reliable during the promotion season and sorting QPR away tickets out for the Spacerams .

Worst Moment: Pulled out the wilderness to play out of position in the 0-5 home defeat to West Ham. Then disgracefully singled out by Billy Davies in the post match excuse session.

Eddy does his best to keep Kenny focused
on the game after he spots Coisty
 in the West Stand.
