Barometer for the year 2007
|
|
|

.....oh Happy Day. |
| Monday 28th May
2007 -
This date will now be
etched in Rams history forever. What an amazing day, to my
mind, with all things considered, unlikely to be topped for
some time. The result, the emotion, the celebrations -
shared with family, mates and complete strangers alike. I'm
34 with 2 kids and this was without doubt in the top 5 best
days of my life. Seems a million years ago now though. |
| DCFC Finances -
Ever since the
spectacular mistakes of our last Premiership adventure, DCFC
have lived on the breadline and often on the very brink of
financial meltdown. If nothing else, our promotion has
secured the clubs future for years, with or without US
investment. |
| Adam Pearson &
Paul Jewell -
It's early days, but the
straight talking, no nonsense style of these two bodes well.
It's certainly a refreshing change from the pedestrian
actions & tedious rhetoric of previous incumbents. |
| Ex employees in
the dock -
No not Big Boab - JK, Murdo, Mckenzie etc. Innocent until
proven guilty but the February court case will no doubt
throw up some fascinating stuff. Is there no way we can get
Phil Brown in there too? |
| Adidas -
After years of poorly designed,
poor quality kits, the Rams amazingly sign up with Adidas!
We'll just ignore those rumours about the profit margins. |
|

Pearo and Jagger
have to get
some fresh air after reading the
file marked "Transfer policy & Scouting network". |

|
|

File alongside Con Blatsis, Daniel Dainno, Kalou Fadiga and Emerson
Thome. |
| New Signings -
2007 was not a good year in the transfer market for DCFC.
Think about it, were there any good new signings? No. |
| Whinging Rams Fans -
From February onwards, there
has been unbelievable negativity from large sections of Rams
fans. It didn't work out in the end but Billy and Gadsby did
not deserve a lot of the stick they got. Well not up to
September anyway! |
| Premiership
Thrashings
- Liverpool, Spurs,
Arsenal, West Ham were tough days to be a Rams fan.
Regardless of any circumstances it really shouldn't have
been that bad. |
| Pre Season 2007/08 -
The Trevor Birch debacle,
meandering transfer activity culminating in the Kenwyne
Jones farce, Billy's ludicrous backroom appointments. This
is where it all went wrong. |
| Boardroom
Shenanigans -
Another year,
more unrest in the DCFC boardroom. The Marples leave, Mike
Horton steps down, Trevor Birch comes and goes within a few
months and finally Peter Gadsby hands the reigns to Adam
Pearson. If that wasn't enough, there was also the almost
daily rumours of fallings out and hidden agenda's. Why is
Derby County like this? |
|

"We
were a month behind, we haven't got the finances, we've over
achieved."
We got battered - end of story. |
